2018 USCAA Softball All-Americans and End-of-the-Year Award Winners

DuBois, PA - The 2018 USCAA All-American and End of Year Awards were announced at the Championship Banquet at the DuBois Country Club.  The USCAA names more than 30 All-Americans, Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, and Student-Athlete of the Year.  Congratulations to this year’s winners.

Student-Athlete of the Year: Julie Foeldes, Penn State Brandywine

Julie Foeldes has a 3.98 GPA and has earned Dean’s List in each of her previous seven semesters on campus. She will be graduating with Summa Cum Laude honors this month and had a perfect 4.0 GPA in her last five semesters. She has worked with Team IMPACT, a non-profit organization that connects children with serious illnesses to college teams. The senior has played in over 130 games behind the plate for to the Lions and recently became the fourth member of the 100-hit club on campus.

Coach of the Year: Kerry Finnigan, NHTI

Kerry Finnigan and the NHTI Lynx posted 27 wins on the season and won the Yankee Small College Conference Championship. The team’s 2018 appearance in the Small College World Series marks his third appearance in five years and has been named YSCC Coach of the Year three times in his six year tenure. His team has won 23 straight games coming into this years tournament in DuBois, PA and ranks first in the association in home runs, shut-outs, and runs.

Player of the Year: Riley Thompson, Cleary University

Riley Thompson boasted a 1.93 ERA which ranks her third in the association and recorded 12 wins this spring. Two of those wins came against four-time defending USCAA Softball National Champions, St. Mary of the Woods College. He was on the mound for 100 innings of work this season and struck out 63 batters in the process.
